The Art & Business of Boudoir Pittsburgh Collaborative

Oh. My. Goodness. This month was only number 2 of SO MANY MORE collaborative meetups to come, but this is what I’ve been waiting for! A room filled with photographers eager to learn about flow posing.

We started off the evening with drinks and a chat about what flow posing is, why it’s so awesome and how to achieve the best poses while maximizing the efficiency of flow-posing. Then we got down to the fun stuff: 4 models, dressed to the nines and all dolled up, ready for a marathon shootout.

I broke up the attendees into 4 groups and stationed each group at a model station. Each group was given a specific amount of time per photographer to take turns practicing my flow pose techniques. Each station had a folio of my favorite 3 flow poses per station and every 30 minutes, each group switched to a new station.

I was THRILLED that not only did every attendee get their own practice time with each model, but everyone got to go home with brand spanking new portfolio images to do with as they please.

Though I’m only 2 months into building this amazing photography education community, it has been one of the most gratifying and fun endeavors in all of my 15 years in the industry. So far, I’ve been able to keep this monthly meetup free, and that’s how I’d like to keep it! If you happen to have a space you’d like to donate one last Thursday of any given month, let me know—I’ll take it!

What was by far the most wonderful part of the night was watching everyone walk away just that much more confidence in their posing, a little more comfort working with a client, and having fun doing it all.

Before I go any further, I’d like to give a HUGE shoutout to HIP at the Flashlight Factory for donating their space for this event and letting us hold this gathering at their gorgeous venue! A giant THANK YOU going out to AtHome Beauty for donating her amazing skills and talents to glamorize and beautify the models! A super ginormous THANK YOU going out to Old Souls Vintage Rentals for allowing us to borrow the most incredible green couch you’d ever want to see. THANK YOU for helping me get this going and for being a part of this community! So much gratitude for each of you!! And last, but certainly not least, to each of the lovely muses that donated their time to allow all of the attendees to work with you and take fab photos of you: THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! I hope you had as much fun as I did!! Autumn Pawelec, Alaina Smith, Krystle Coll, and Hannah Janecek. THANK YOU!
