Amanda & Paul | Rustic Outdoor Weddings
Aaaaaand here we go! This fantastically amazing couple got married, as you know and, as promised, here is the whole kit and caboodle to feast your eyes on. I can't tell you how absolutely delightful it's been getting to know Amanda & Paul over the last year and a half. Such a grounded, deeply kind and thoughtful couple. Individually these 2 are incredible people, together it's like super-awesome-powers unite to make the world a better place.
Amanda & Paul actually hired us over the phone and our first interaction with them was when we took a trip up to their neck of the woods to stay for a day or 2 and capture their engagement session on their land. And land there was. You see, Amanda's family owns pretty much a small country's worth of land and over the years, family have built their own homes all over the land so that they can all be close, celebrate together, live with and off the land together and grow up and grow old together. Isn't that remarkable??
So when it came to choosing a location for the wedding, they knew they wanted a venue that provided a gorgeous country setting, needed to be outdoors and be a feast for the eyes. Aaaand it turns out that it was a bit more difficult than they expected, believe it or not. And then they had a brilliant idea: what if they bought their venue and made it what they wanted it to be? And that's what they did. They bought land that had an existing structure, renovated it to be the whole family's retreat home, added a lake and voila! The world's best wedding and reception venue was born (and a stunning family retreat home as well)! And because they owned everything they could whatever they wanted, which was fabulous.
And yes, the land was beautiful, the getaway home was lovely, the lake was stunning...but no one could take their eyes off of Amanda and Paul. The feast for my eyes for the weekend was watching everyone buzz around these 2 like they were honey for the soul. It was absolutely beautiful to see the unabashed joy everyone had for them on their wedding day. The deep belly laughs, the hugs of sincere and proud congratulations, the sheer glee in the eyes of each friend and family member was where you could find the true nature of this couple.
Some of my fave things during this day: the ring blessing during the ceremony by Amanda & Paul's parents (so touching), Amanda's inclusion of her grandmother's cameo on her bouquet, Amanda's stunning Claire Pettibone dress, seat cards blowing in the wind attached to tree branches, the ceremony was a self-uniting ceremony with Amanda's brother, Justin, as the celebrant, the beautiful same-day-edit short film by ShoFilms during the reception (wow...that's just impressive), the cigar bar, the swan butter sculpture (that's a lot of butter) and ending the night with karaoke for the guests...that was just plain smart fun. Never witnessed so many drunk people trying to sing Living on a Prayer. ;-)
Congratulations Amanda & Paul!!
